Being a breadwinner SUCKS...

if you're the only one doing it.  Hubby is trying to find a job and also getting signed up to go to school to get a degree in welding.  As it stands though we are living on my full-time job's income, which comes (and goes!) once a month.  I rarely find the time to brainstorm let alone take photos...so dang it, this is going to have to continue being sadly neglected.  I don't know for how much longer, hopefully not a ridiculous amount of time.

I haven't forgotten this one!

I just haven't made time to do anything with it!

Abby's Senior Portraits

will be posted shortly. Actually, she and I need to take some more since - even though I got a couple really great ones - we were really rushed that day and were focusing mainly on getting a good headshot to go in the yearbook. Anyway.

My brother is letting me borrow his computer and my other brother is having me take over his internet contract with Qwest so as soon as that gets set up I will be posting aaaaaaall the pictures that I have not been able to since I moved back here from Texas. Yay!

Assignments!?

My mom wants me to take school pictures of my three younger siblings...one of them is a senior so I'll be doing her "senior" pictures. I may also be doing them for a friend of hers too, who is flat broke. Which is fine with me. I will do pro bono until I feel like I have a substantial amount of material for a portfolio AND the experience to start charging people for my work.

I wish photography projects came to me as easily as crochet or sewing projects did. >_>

A trip to the Sunken Gardens in San Antonio

Some of the best ones from that day. It was sweltering, but there was a breeze, and in the shade that felt nice.

I'm glad I got to go and see it before I leave San Antonio for a bit. If I'd been by myself I probably would have picked a spot to sit and write or think or watch for a while. They had some beautiful koi! I tried to get pictures but the water was really scummy :(

Anyway. The light was also really good to me that day - a little overcast, so that I didn't have to fight a lot of shadow <3

I ended up not going to the zoo with the aunt and her 5 crazies. I opted to stay in the apt and clean...not my favorite thing to do, but the silence made it ALL worth it.

We're all goin' to the zooooooo tomorrow...

and I will be lugging my Rebel down there. So hopefully tomorrow I will get some neat shots to post in here! :)

I bent a twist-tie in the shape of a heart the other day. For some reason it struck me as whimsical, so I photographed it. Results below :)

Pretty busy here in San Antonio, have had almost no time to myself to do any scouting, but honestly I expected that. Five kids is five kids is five kids. =)

I am starting to develop shoot ideas though. Woo!!

New location!

Hey y'all, I've moved down to San Antonio, TX. It's a semi-permanent thing, doing some nannying for a while :) I've only been here since Saturday afternoon, so haven't had much chance to really do any exploring/scouting for sites to shoot. But be assured that photos are forthcoming!
